Airdrie Entrepreneurs Are!

By Sara Chamberlain

This morning, were fortunate to have Todd Hirsch, Senior Economist with ATB Financial, in Airdrie to provide our business community with an economic update and forecast for 2013.  It’s the second year we’ve held the event and, from our perspective, it was a success.
Our team member Tristan Choi poses with
Todd Hirsch after the session.

Todd’s key message for 2013 was that the Alberta economy will remain “healthy and strong.” He commented on the stability of Canada, despite uncertainty in many places around the globe. That stability is a good thing for Airdrie businesses.
But what really struck me was what Todd said at the end of his speech–in fact, it was after the formal presentation ended. He was describing his book, “The Boiling Frog Dilemma: Saving Canada from Economic Decline.” He spoke about what he believes Canada needs to be. He listed:
  • Entrepreneurial
  • Innovative
  • Creative
  • Risk taking
Working with Airdrie businesses, we see those qualities all the time. From an accountant who quits her day job to work for herself to an emerging energy company that is taking the next step into the world market.  There are examples all around us that show Airdrie entrepreneurs are all of those things.

What qualities do you think describe Airdrie businesses? Tell us by commenting below!
